CLEANLINESS IS THE WORD: If needed have the carpet shampooed and floors waxed. Wash the walls, windows, blinds, drapes and lighting fixtures. It may even be worth it to hire a professional cleaner. It is a justified moving expense.
KITCHENS & BATHROOMS: Maximize the countertop space. Anything that you are not using on a regular basis does not need to take up space. If unsightly, have the tub re-caulked and remove mineral deposits and grime form the shower walls. Don’t forget to clean your appliances.
REPAIRS: Minor repairs such as doors that stick and creak and faucets that drip trigger the thought in the potential buyers head that these are the minor issues that are seen. How many are here that are unseen? You want to eliminate that thought process wherever possible.
CLOSETS: Remove out of season clothing. Organize your clothing and shoes on the floor. Remove all clutter from cabinets and closets.
FURNITURE: The less furniture you have the larger and more functional a room will appear to be.
A LIGHT APPEARANCE: As a rule do everything within your power to lighten your home up. Raise the blinds, open the drapes and use light colors. In some cases you may need to repaint a room.
